Australia’s largest postal service Australia Post asked Taste to help raise awareness and promote their accessibility goals to over thirty thousand staff spread out across every corner of the country.

We launched ‘The Real Stories Project’ as an employee competition to share stories that raise a positive message of inclusion within the workplace. The winning stories were produced into the short film ‘Work Mate’ and the six-part comedy web series ‘Under the Sun’. To further showcase Australia Post’s genuine passion for inclusion, 14 film students with an intellectual disability were mentored on set during production in Sydney.

Due to an overwhelming response to the public launch, the web series was requested by ABC for 2 year distribution deal across ABC iView and Qantas inflight requested a 2 year deal to broadcast the series on every domestic flight in Australia.

The short film received international acclaim at film festivals including the Cleveland International Film Festival, South Dakota Film Festival, Byron Bay International Film Festival, Kansas City Film Festival and the Fargo Film Festival. As well as the big festivals it is also enjoying premieres at community screenings to bring the message of inclusion to our communities at a grassroots level.

After engaging with the campaign, 80% of the Australia Post workforce now feel more confident to employ a person with a disability, and 97% have engaged in discussion with staff about inclusion in the workplace. Australia Post was also announced as a finalist in the National Disability Awards from the success of The Real Stories Project.

“The Taste team has an amazing ability to produce engaging and meaningful content that helps to drive true culture change.”
